Guided by Nature

Our Family owned and operated farm is passionate about plants. Dedicated to helping everyone find the beauty in nature; be it through gardening, cut flowers or the healing herbs. We offer a wide selection of herbs, annuals, perennials, shrubs, olde-fashioned roses and trees. We strive to offer olde-fashioned favorites as well as the new top of the line breeding for your gardening needs. We offer classes covering all plant related topics, including how to garden in harmony with nature. Our drying barn displays our beautifully hand-crafted decorations made from our gardens, as well as cut flowers, healing tinctures and many salves from our apothecary. We have seventeen theme gardens so that you can familiarize yourself with many different plants.

Our farm is preserved from development in the Maryland Environmental Trust and Severn River Land Trust. We have labored to introduce many native medicinal and ornamental plants to this land and we consider ourselves a botanical preserve. To further this endeavor; we have joined United Plant Savers, an organization devoted to medicinal plant preservation.

Our farm uses self-sustaining organic methods to lessen our footprint on the earth and to keep our farm healthy for all time to come.

Staff Biographies

Maria Price-Nowakowski
Maria started Willow Oak Flower and Herb Farm in 1979 on her mother's land.  The farm has several herbal theme gardens, cut flowers, herbal plantings and native flora. She teaches classes through the farm. She has a degree from the University of Maryland and a Degree in Pharmacognosy from the University of Rhode Island.  She is passionate about gardening and preservation of the environment, land, and native plants.

Heather Carr
Heather attended college for business and received her degree in entrepreneurship, which she applies to the farm. She is the talented creative artist with all things floral including weddings and the everyday flowers at Willow Oak. Heather enjoys the whole life cycle of flowers, from seeding to harvesting, she thinks of it as a bit of Mother Nature's Magic that she is lucky enough to help with. Heather's son Silis is also a big help on the farm as he is following in his mother's footsteps.
